Honoring Juneteenth in the Bay Area

June 15, 2022

“Juneteenth

Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas first heard the news of freedom. This momentous event occurred nearly two and a half years after slaves were freed in the southern states due to the Emancipation Proclamation. In 2021, everyone was ecstatic when the House voted 415-14 and President Joe Biden signed the bill, making Juneteenth formally the 12th federal holiday.

In honor of this historical occasion, occurring this Sunday, June 19th – CBS Bay Area news has highlighted some upcoming events that you can attend all over the Bay Area. To highlight a few:

No matter what area you’re in – San Francisco, Marin County, Alameda County, South Bay, San Mateo County, Solano, Contra Costa – there are many festival options to consider, starting from June 17th to the 19th. If you get a chance, why not join in and celebrate?

ZEDEDA recognizes all holidays and their significance, and our core culture values support these. The five C’s: courage, considerateness, candor, curiosity, and collaboration fuel the soul of our company and the ZEDEDA team emulates these values and factors them into day-to-day goals. We nurture open minds, inclusivity, and diversity – and ultimately, we are all in this together by working as one.

ZEDEDA’s Founder and CEO, Said Ouissal, thoughtfully states, “As an international and global company, diversity, inclusion, and belonging is core to who we are and what we do at ZEDEDA. We believe strength comes from struggle and courage – and for Juneteenth – we honor and recognize freedom and peace for all.”

This year, ZEDEDA celebrates and honors Juneteenth like so many others around the Bay Area. And, as a bonus, if you’re interested in joining an inspiring workplace and team culture like ZEDEDA, feel free to check out our careers page.
