As a company deeply committed to environmental sustainability and community engagement, ZEDEDA recently organized a tree-planting initiative in Muthanallur Panchayat, a village located in the Bommasandra neighborhood of South Bangalore. Led by ZEDEDA Operations Manager Manal Fathima, the team partnered with Grow Billion Trees, a non-governmental organization dedicated to large-scale reforestation efforts, to enhance the local environment.
Helping to restore the ‘Garden City’
By planting 50 trees, including mango, neem, almond, and eucalyptus, the team aimed to provide both fruit-bearing and medicinal benefits to the community. These tree varieties were specifically selected for their ability to flourish in the local climate and contribute to the area’s ecological well-being.
Fathima highlighted the driving force behind this initiative, saying, “Over the last few years, Bangalore has faced rising temperatures and water shortages and, as a result, has become a concrete jungle. The city, once known as the Garden City of India, is just a memory for us now.
Our commitment to improving society is the driving force behind this initiative.”
The tree-planting event was also a true team effort, showcasing the dedication and enthusiasm of ZEDEDA’s employees. With support from Grow Billion Trees, the team ensured the successful execution and ongoing maintenance of the newly planted trees. The organization’s geo-tracking facility even allows for real-time monitoring of the trees’ growth and health.
