Secure Software Delivery Within Untrusted Environments at Scale with EVE and K3s

The requirements for running Kubernetes centrally are relatively well understood, but how do we manage it in untrusted, highly distributed locations where we don’t own the network or have physical security? This session will share the case study of the world’s second largest auto manufacturer who is leveraging K3s as it modernizes its dealership infrastructure (70,000 locations in 150 countries) in order to satisfy regulatory requirements to securely provide and manage vehicle firmware updates. We’ll also provide an introduction to EVE, developed within the Linux Foundation’s LF Edge organization. EVE provides the ideal infrastructure for deploying Kubernetes at the distributed edge by addressing key requirements in areas such as security, autonomy & scale for compute resources located outside of secure data centers.
