Together, ZEDEDA and VyOS provide a unified network solution for edge environments, providing seamless integration of workloads, efficient distribution of edge capabilities, robust orchestration and uncompromising zero trust security. The solution:
- Extends robust routing,firewall, and VPN capabilities to edge devices, enabling secure and reliable communication across distributed environments
- Integrates advanced security features from VyOS, like stateful firewalling, VPN encryption, and network segmentation into ZEDEDA’s zero trust architecture providing a comprehensive security framework
- Seamlessly manages and deploys virtualized network functions, efficiently scaling network capabilities across edge deployments
- Provides zero-touch onboarding and remote management of the entire underlying edge infrastructure, including hardware, OS, and application VMs and containers
- Avoids vendor lock-in and benefits from continuous community-driven improvements due to open source collaboration and principles
How We Do It
The joint solution enables customers to effortlessly set up a VyOS instance that functions as a virtual network function within ZEDEDA, allowing customers to significantly enhance their network capacity. There’s no need to worry about hardware limitations or stringent security prerequisites, and there are diverse methods to establish connections with various cloud providers.
About VyOS
VyOS is an open-source network operating system. Its slogan is "a universal router" because it supports multiple deployment scenarios and roles: bare-metal hardware from small boards to large servers, all popular virtualization platforms including VMware, KVM, and Microsoft Hyper-V, and multi-cloud support for major hyperscalers like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
VyOS supports multiple dynamic routing protocols via FRRouting, various VPN protocols, and other network routing and security features, available through a unified stateful CLI and an HTTP API for management automation.
